This will be the last blog before I will leave England, because I have less than 10 days left here in the UK. This time I will write it in English, because after living a whole year in England it's time to show how much my English has improved. The last few months have gone incredibly quick. Loads of stuff has happened these months.
During April heit and mem have visited me and we had some lovely days together. It was really nice seeing them again after such a long time. The first day we have seen Driffield and Bridlington and Britt came with us too for a meal out in Flamborough. The second day we have been to York. Heit and mem absolutely loved the Shambles in York! The day after I have showed heit and mem the school and they have met some of my teachers. I really enjoyed it showing them around, because now they finally could imagine how my year must have been here. That afternoon we went to Beverley, which was very nice as well. The last day we went to the Bempton Cliffs with the three of us. Michele came with us all the other days. The Bempton Cliffs were really nice and the weather was perfect for that day too. On this day it was also Karen her birthday, so after saying goodbye to my parents we celebrated Karen her sweet 17. Karen showed us how the Danish people normally celebrated their birthday. It was really interesting to see her culture. The day after Britt had her birthday and on this day we went to Hull with Luna, Karen, Britt and me. We did some shopping and had a meal out.
The weeks after it was back to normal. However, that week also something sad happened because of the earthquake in Nepal. Karen her sister was there at the moment when it happened and she went missing for a few days. This was a really big shock for Karen and her family, so she decided to end her exchange early and go back home to Denmark to support her family. In the end Karen her sister was fine, but it was really strange to say goodbye to Karen so early.
That other week I had my first exam, which was an oral exam for French. I had to speak 20 minutes in French and I hope I did well, but I will get the results late August so we just have to wait and see. On that Friday Britt, Luna and I also had a party in Driffield from some students from school. It was good to have a bit of fun after these hard weeks.
The next day we went to a cheese factory in Wensleydale with the three of us and Graham (the husband of our local rep). The cheese was delicious and during the drive through Yorkshire we passed some beautiful landscapes!
But the happy days didn't stay for long, because one of Luna her friends passed away which made Luna decide to go back to Germany for good. This was a shame too.. Eventhough it wasn't my friend it does influence you in some way.
In this week we also had study leave from school, which means that you have weeks off from school to study for your exams. I had one week off before my first exam. In this week Britt also finished her exchange year. Britt her parents came to Driffield to pick her and all her stuff up ;). I have been with Britt and her parents to Bridlington that weekend and we stayed over in a hotel there. It was a very nice weekend!
On that Monday I had my first business exam and I think it went alright. That week I also had my French exam and I'm quite curious to the results of my exams.
This week was half term and that actually means a holiday of a week. It has been a bit boring to be honest, but I had a lot of things to sort out. For example, I had to do some revision for my second business exam and I have already started packing my suitcase!
Next week will be much busier. On Monday I have an extra business revision lesson where I will go to and on Tuesday it's time for fish and chips with Abbie, Isie and Sarah. These are girls from my French class. On Wednesday I have to do some teaching again and on Thursday it's time for my business exam. My last exam will be on Friday and on the 7th of June it's time to leave.
It has been an amazing year here. I have seen, learned and done so much! It has been a life time opportunity and a dream come true! I will miss everything and everyone here, because it's so special to build a bond with someone from abroad. But I'm also looking forward to coming home. I can't wait anymore to see everyone again and to start my new study and to start korfball again.
I will see you in exactly 8 days, 17 hours, 3 minutes and 19 seconds!
With lots of love,
Bente
